[CQ-Contest] SECTION DESIGNATIONS

Can someone on the contest committee tell me when they changed the SECTION
DESIGNATOR for Washington, District of Corruption to Just DC or WDC?

For the last 40 yr+ I have always used MDC in contests.  I thought that it
was the Maryland-DC section.
