Greetings,
I've read a number of the responses with interest--thought I'd drop in my 2
cents worth.
I QSL 100 percent on non-contest QSOs using a 20 cent stamp--no sase or
return postage. I don't expect a card back, but most times one will show
up.
Needed DX cards got to the stateside manager with a SASE or to the WF5E QSL
Service. All other DX cards are sent via the buro.
When the USA QSL Buro was open every QSO got a QSL.
If I need the stateside card for an award, I always send an SASE. Many
times I have got the SASE back as well as a card. Once I got two 32-cent
stamps back so I could "pass the favor along" to another.
When a contest station is making 2000-3000 QSOs per contest I understand
that costs make QSLing expensive and don't expect a card without a SASE.
What really irritates me is when you send an SASE and get no response.
Another station in Europe keeps your IRC and gives the cards to a US
service member to mail at 32 cents each or wants "greenstamps" for the QSL.
But these are the exception, not the rule.
