the easier way so that no one has to remember anything is to create
a separate .bat file... i call it autostart.bat. in my autoexec.bat
files on the logging network i have:
pause
autostart
this puts up the prompt 'hit any key to continue' before running
the autostart.bat that just calls the network startup.bat file with
the contest name as a parameter. this way i don't have to touch
the autoexec.bat, or the network startup.bat, just edit the one
line autostart.bat to put in the current contest name and when the
program crashes i tell the ops to hit the reset button and the
computer does the rest after the op finds the any key. this keeps
the setup simple and makes it easier for ops at 2am.
