Stopped by the PO box this morning before heading to the airport for a
business trip to Omaha and found the latest issue of QST. I'm writing
this review during a brief layover at the St. Louis airport.

Front cover photo of a sailboat docked at a KL7 harbor with a feature
article inside.

Contest related items: Results - 1998 ARRL International DX Phone
Contest; Results (revised) - 1997 ARRL 10 Meter Contest; General Rules

Meter Contests); HF Amplifiers versus Antennas - One Ham's Opinion (save
that amp money and put it toward your antennas); Hints & Kinks - Tower
Safety and Sealing Rotators; and Contest Corral - Feedback (corrections)
to results of the 97 November Sweepstakes and 98 ARRL RTTY Roundup.

Other interesting items: Up Front in QST has two pages of Field Day 98
photos; Maritime Mobile from Alaska's Panhandle (cover story); Exploring
136 kHz (yes, that is kHz!); No Rig? Will Travel! (aeromobile HF DXing);

copper and PVC pipe); Zenith's "One-and-Only" Ham Receiver; The
Second-Floor Solution (portable HF antenna); Product Reviews - Dual-Band

Ads: Alpha Delta has full page ad for their "Second Generation" of
Transi-Trap Coax Surge Protectors. Radio Shack has a full page ad for a
new simplex repeater controller using digital recording technology. ARRL
HQ now has all previous issues (all the way back to 1915) of QST
available on CD-ROM. Ham Radio Outlet's ad has a small picture of the
new Yaesu FT-100.

CQ WW DX SSB Contest is only a few days away! Good luck to everyone.

73 and good reading,
