[CQ-Contest] Alpha 78 Won't Tune

Hello, and thanks a lot for reading. I'm having a major problem with my
Alpha 78 amp and I'm wondering if anyone has a solution. For some reason
the amp just will not tune. When I have it in the "bandpass" no tune
position it works fine and puts out full output. However when it's in the
manual tune position, it will not tune. I pump 100w of exciter power
into it on CW and the plate reads about 2/3 scale, but the gird current
only reads about 10ma and moving the Tune and Load controls affects the
grid current not at all. Making it impossible to tune it. 

I have no idea where the 100w is going, as I'm getting 0w out on my
external meter when I'm trying to tune it. It's like it's eating up
the power. And you can't tune it with no power out. Like I said, it works
fine on 10m and on bandpass mode, but I can't manually tune it. Any
suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks a lot and good luck to
