[CQ-Contest] ft-1000d stuff

As I was looking for repair facilities on the web, I found a site that did
optimization work on radios. The pitch was that they would tune the thing
within an inch of it's life. They also do that PIN diode swap in several of
the stages.

Now to the questions.

First, I can't find the site again. Does anyone out there know of this site?

Second, what is the opinion of the crowd about the PIN diode swap in a
ft-1000d, gilding the lily?
