You have a very good point, and I'd be surprised if someone wasn't doing =
the number crunching on this count. I think sometimes contests are =
defined by the solar flux, which I find is quite a bad way of looking at =
things. Some of my best and farthest DX has occurred on the lower solar =
flux days (with low solar flux and high A and K indices). I hope =
someone who is good with numbers and propagation modes takes you =
seriously on this (I know a VHF operator who logs someone during each =
opening, no matter how many times he has worked that grid/person just so =
he has propagation data...why it isn't done on HF is something I don't =
know). I think most VHF and above operators do keep some sort of =
personal propagation tally, keeping up with the modes during openings. =20
Unfortunately, for the numbers involved in contesting, my number =
crunching is more limited than yours...the computer does all the work or =
