Ditto!
I vote with my fists - do not enter those contests.
Remember days when there were no repeaters and packets? One could find the
station, work it, go on to next one. Nowadays, poor multiplier shows up,
couple calls later he is framed on the packet, "ass-isted or un-ass-isted"
zero in their VFOs and never ending bedlam starts, not letting the rare one
to come back. One drawback of packet is that there is an instant pileup of
anxious ops making it difficult to satisfy. It is especially hard for them
low power guys, working hard in finding new ones, being hammered by avalanche
of packetteers. (Smart DX quickly jumps to another frequency.)

Back in old days, the rare one could work them one by one as they were
discovering it. I vote for eliminating packet from all categories. Isn't
contesting supposed to demonstrate one's skills? Just shut the darn thing
down for the contest and there will be no problems assisted or unassisted.

Questions about "other" assistance keep popping up. Please, get the logical
meaning of assistance by other person(s) during the contest. It relates to
finding and feeding the operating information (telling where is what) by ANY
means to the operator. Radio contesting is a technical sport which allows us
to use equipment to the best of our abilities, you can have 7 transceivers,
keyers, computers, and even slave feeding you food.

Another question is having "technician" fixing problems during the contest,
is that "assistance"? I do my own fixing, but I have no problem someone
having help with that, as long as another person does not participate in
operating - feeding the info or operating single op station.

Lets try to stay with meaning of the words, if you are single operator that
means no assistance in operating or feeding operating info via any means.
