Couldn´t it be that the Ferrite Bead did saturate and at
that point you would have a non linear element in the
system and wind up with non linear secondary radiation.
Could that be why the K3LR contest station sometimes
do have distortion and a wide signal on the band?
Same also applies to other stations on the band, not
unique to K3LR.
Since nobody never ever do have a problem with their
radios maybe this is the golden culprit.

Barry:
What I told Andy was that a certain Ferrite Bead that I was using on
my antenna feedlines was the cause of increased inter band
interference at my station. It appears that the performance of the
bead was altered by a nearby lightning strike.
The problem I experienced did NOT involve ferrite baluns.
Please remember that my station is unique and I would be surprised if
anyone else experiences this exact problem.
Ferrite bead chokes in this application (they are NOT baluns) when
properly installed will not increase inter band interference.
