Holding a major DX contest,
where the operators are relegated back to the boring old humdrum of :
AA)
Actually being required to scan tune the bands for the new stuff,
BB)
Actually needing to have some understanding of propagation
characteristics and long path beam heading timings,
CC)
Actually having a very real reason to ask a station to QSY instead of
just waiting to see on a computer screen when he has done so,
DD)
Ringing a bell, Blowing a Horn, or "Throwing High Fives" when a new one
is found on your own,
EE)
Throwing the headphones to someone else to see if he can get the call
that you just cannot dig out of QRM and QRN,
............ just not watching a screen where others have found what
you should be looking for yourself.
Ever any thought to just doing away with packet for a DX contest?
I love computers, computer logging, computer duping, general DX
operating packet, etc.
But what if we just went to doing away with packet during contests?
Would any others buy into this ?
What if we just went back to doing our own hamming during a contest?
