I have a suggestion.

Why not take this thread to the Internet Usenet Newsgroup
rec.radio.amateur.antenna

There are quite a few experts on that newsgroup, and it would be
an interesting topic.

When that thread is done, a single post summary can be placed
back here. Some of the comments about non-linear ionosphere and
heating make my skin crawl, but it would be better to discuss this
in a technical...instead of a contesting....forum.
