[CQ-Contest] network problems

be sure to test it well though. i have reports of some stations having trouble
with twisted pair networks. also i have just switched from a dialup line to
isdn with a 3com isdn router, unfortunately it appears to be very susceptible to
rf. the worst problems seem to be on 80m with my 4sq when the ne lobe is
selected since that beams almost through the shack... also 160m when i feed the
pair of inverted L's in phase because the shack is 1/2 way in between so gets
the highest fields. these were also a pain to get out of the old dialup phone
line, but never did affect the coax based ethernet.
on the 3com, liberal use of ferrites helped, but the best solution so far is to
use an old hp hub that seems bulletproof and only use one port on the 3c892a's
built in hub to feed it.

Dave was sugning K1ZND when, during the mid 1960's decade he was tops
in the 150W
and under category for all W/VE's in the ARRL DX CW contest. His
antenna was a 2
element tribander listed as 25 feet high. Apparently most of his ~700
QSO's came on
10 and 15 meters despite the low sunspot conditions of the day. I
must have re-read that
issue of QST magazine 100,000 times.
