The best, industrial-strength backup software, bar none, is Retrospect
from Dantz Software. Ok, so they got their start with the Mac -- the
Zulch brothers have been doing backup software for 15 years, and have
supported Windows machines as well for the last 6 or more.

Retrospect can backup to just about any media, from floppies to DVD-R. It
supports all manner of tape drives. You can buy products that backup one
machine, or you can backup a bunch of computers on a network on a
scheduled basis.

Retrospect has no equal.

See: <www.dantz.com>

I have no connection with Dantz Software other than has a long-time
satisfied customer.
