It happened to me dozens of times this weekend in the 10 meter contest. 
Admittedly my ts-570 is not top of the line, but many stations just 
disappeared When someone stronger transmitted within the front-end 
bandpass. And yes even using the attenuator wasn't the answer in many cases.
