Hi,Dave,
I am located in real Eastern EU and even in quite a northern part of it.I
worked in this ARRL 10 meters contest CW only HP not so much seriously ,but
anyway...
  The facts show that Your statement re.impossibility to work  Eastern EU
from Ca and Az  are not fully correct:
First West coast QSO was done with K7QQ from Wa(really mirage signal) at
1450 Z.
   1556 Z W6EEN was made( and his signal sounded like from East Coast!)
followed by WA6O.First Az station was made 1612Z -K7UAZ  followed by WR6A
from Ca.
But N7KU from Az was loud long time here starting 1625 ,it was hard to get
thru to him due to intensive West Eu calling,but I succeeded finally.He was
heard then for at least 1 hour afterwards.More two Ca's were made :AC6DD and
K6AM later on.
  The biggest problem from our location is to work VE4,VE5,VE6 and VE7 as
they are really to far North.Even VE6JY was not heard here inspite of
fabulous station they are using.
