I normally do not announce the arrival of QEX in a separate posting; however,
this issue is closer to what I think some would call a true Antenna Issue.
The detail provided in these articles are reminiscent of the old Ham Radio
magazine, and the more recent Communications Quarterly, which is now combined
with QEX. Since the other ham magazines place a lot of focus on beginners
(not necessarily a bad move), the information in QEX is clearly for "advanced
beginners" and beyond. So what is inside this issueâ¦
First, a front cover close-up photo of a 70-cm yagi driven element feed point
and balun, which clearly shows how an inside-article-related photo can
literally be "worth a 1000 words."
Antenna items:
Some Aspects of Long-Boom, Monoband Log-Cell Yagi Design (L.B. Cebik, W4RNL)
Tower and Antenna Wind Loading as a Function of Height
Wave Mechanics of Transmission Lines, Part 2, Where Does Reflected Power Go?
RF column - A Small 70-cm Yagi (cover story)
Other interesting items:
Medium-Frequency Sunrise Enhancements (a 3.5 year study based on real 1.5 MHz
data)
New Book review - Radio Receiver Design
Selectivity of Single-Resonator Coupling Networks (William Sabin, W0IYH)
Plate Characteristics of a Distortion-Free Class-AB RF Amplifier Tube
BTW, if you can fully understand all of the technical data in this issue, you
are probably ready to take that Extra exam!
