[CQ-Contest] Multi-Multi-Multi

Could you guys describe the mechanics of 
the "distributed multi"?  I recall reading about the 
N6TR/N5KO/et al operation but would like to see it 
again.  Also, how is the operation of the HQ stations 
in IARU a "distributed multi"?
