[CQ-Contest] SO2R vs SO1R

The only problem I have with SO2R ops is the ones that haven't learned how
to keep their run frequency. These are the ones who while on the second rig
either don't listen to the run rig or figure they can just take back the
frequency when they get back.
They have been several times in a contest that I find a clear frequency and
ask if the frequency is in use 2 or 3 times, more than enough time for a
SO2R op to respond, and after calling CQ a few times I hear someone tell me
the frequency is in use. I figure that these ops were SO2R ops or in a few
cases it was a station trying to copy an exchange from a weak station I
could not hear. (It one case I was actually in the middle of a QSO when told
the frequency was in use and then he proceeded to call CQ!) I believe that
in most cases it was SO2R stations. Being a pop gun station I didn't fight
about it I just moved but I sure was mad about it.

I tried SO2R once while I was a guest op and I found out quickly that trying
to learn to do it at an unfamiliar station is not the way to go. I was
quickly SO1R for the contest. I will try it again soon, as my new tower and
stack will be setup for SO2R ( will need to get the second rig and control
box) Tower project on hold till I replenish funds :(

I have seen contest results listed here on the reflector ( can't remember
the guy who post them) where there was a note if the station was 1R or 2R, I
think this should be done for all contests just so we can see if we were
beat by a SO1R or SO2R or maybe we could list in the soapbox if we were SO1R
or SO2R and maybe the antenna setup ie vertical, single tribander, stack
tribanders, stacked monobanders, etc. That way when we lose to another
station we can see if we lost to a better station or a better operator.
Don't read this wrong I am not saying that if you are SO2R your not a better
op you are! But if I lose to a station that I can see is setup similar to
mine in the same area I can know that I lost because the operator was better
than me and not because he had better station than mine that way I can see
if I need to work on better equipment or skills( always need better skills
:))
