        I thought KQ2M put it very well on the WRTC2002 reflector:

"I personally think that the WRTC committee should use their wildcard
selection criteria for ALL the participants, ensuring that everyone meets
the same standard (set by the WRTC committee of course) and ensuring that
there is no popularity, politics or favoritism shown in determining who the
participants will be.  Just actual contest results."

        A world championship contest is not the place for political
correctness.
