The actual competition is almost secondary to the gathering.
In 40+ years of contesting, being a judge at WRTC-96 was one of my most
memorable experiences in the hobby. I have permanent mental pictures of K4VX
holding court in the bar and K1ZZ handing out maps
and W6OAT delivering pizza.
These gatherings are a who's-who of contesting and a benchmark of
fellowship. I regret missing WRTC 2000, but am planning to be at 2002.
