I'm glad George cited Mr. Cebiks coverage of Mr. Leeson's use of a section
of 75 ohm coaxial cable to make a simple dipole present a decent swr for cw
and phone.

I got tired of messing around with open wires and tuners and went to W6NL's
"broadband" dipole this summer. I've been very pleased with the results.
Great swr and performance for both modes without making any changes to the
antenna.

Sometimes it's fun to confound the computer-bound "super check
partial"
automatons by being "unstable", and sending unexpected information,
like real signal reports.  If everyone did that, maybe contesting
would reward
copying and transcribing skills again, not who has the most complete
crib sheet on their hard drive.
