Tom your comment below stating that you changed from twinlead to coax,
and "you still have rfi in the shack" leads me to beleive it's not the
twinlead
causing your problems. I used to run twinlead all the time, but I went
several
years with all coax fed antennas. I had some rfi problems with coax fed
antennas also. In my case, I live on a small lot, so the 80m dipole has got
to
come over the top of the house. I can rid myself of any and all rfi from
that
antenna by putting both legs of the antenna in the backyard, making sort of
a V out of it, and then no rfi even at 1500 watts. But, if anybody has ever
tried this, then they know also that when the ends are too close, you can't
get a good match, and performance goes down the tubes. So, from what
I have seen personally, any rfi problems I have come from the antenna and
not the feedline. I'm running 130ft antenna fed with twinlead all the way
to the tuner at about 36 feet high, using it on 40 and 80 and running 500
watts.
I tear the heck out of my pc speakers on 40, but I also tore the heck out of
them with a coax fed resonant dipole. My cb neighbor with the SB 220
causes me more grief with rfi then I do myself. Luckily, all I've noticed on
the hf rig is a little desense on 10m.
