Briefly:

Fully 75+ of those who responded to my query regarding the loss of RF GAIN
control I was experiencing when I had the AGC turned OFF on my TS-950SD and
then tuned across a strong signal reported that they, too, could reproduce
the problem on their TS-950S or '950SD. A couple could not. That's the bad
news.
The GOOD NEWS is that I now have a FIX for the problem... and IT WORKS
WELL! Unfortunately, I cannot claim ANY ownership of the fix.. it came from
Kenwood! So they are obviously much too aware of the problem.

If anyone out there has a TS-950S or '950SD, and wants a copy of the fix,
please drop me an e-mail to n0ss at earthlink.net or n0ss at arrl.net and I'll be
happy to send it back to you in reply.

The PDF file is about 850kB, and I have included pictures (color even) to
assist you with locating the parts on the Signal Unit PC board.

The mod is EASY, BUT you MUST be capable/competent to work with SMT
components... at least to be able to REMOVE them without damaging the PC
board... NO components are installed... only removed... and then two
jumpers are added.

Thanks for the bandwidth.
