Yes, that must be the answer. I hadn't thought of it like that, but its
obvious when someone points it out !

Thanks for all the responses. Happy Contesting.

Maybe things will improve shortly, but I have a couple of recommendations
for anyone traveling by air, especially internationally.

1) As some have heard, get to the airport at least 3 hours before your
initial departure time. The delays at the counters are significant.

2) If you have a connection to make, do not leave yourself with less than a
2 hour scheduled layover time...I'd recommend 3.
Examples: My initial flight from BWI - their first one of the day - was
delayed 2 hours for departure. This meant I missed my connection to Aruba
on the way down. On the way back, I had a 2 hour scheduled layover and just
barely made it. The flight was 20 minutes late leaving Aruba and then sat
on a taxiway at Miami for an hour waiting for a gate! Of course it seems
all my connecting flights were close to being on time!

3) Boxes are OK right now...at least on American. However, it seems every
single airport is handling security precautions a little differently, so
allow a lot of time for this...just in case they decide they want you to
open stuff up for inspection. I always carry a small roll of packing tape
with me, although I now use my teeth to cut it! hi!

Note, though, that you may find that the cheaper ones only comply with
FCC Class A standards, which shouldn't be used in the home (and which
can be expected to produce more QRM). I'll also note that the manual
for the 3Com OfficeConnect hubs I'm using (which has Class B
compliance) claims that use with UTP instead of STP degrades operation
to Class A standards. YMMV.
