If you operate under a higher class license than the one you have, it has
been correctly stated that you need to have the control operator there.

Your communications fall into the same category as a unlicensed person at
that point.  Which means you are subject to third party traffic restrictions.

For a DX contest, this essentially means you can't call CQ - or call stations
that do not have 3rd party traffic agreements with your country of operation.

None of this has anything to do with contest rules.
