[CQ-Contest] Response to K5ZD's Comments

Seems to me that there are two very distinct classes
of contesters. Those who have time/energy/will/ability
to spend an entire weekend on the radio. And those who
don't. I venture that the latter category forms the
overwhelming majority, even if not the majority of
subscribers to this reflector.

I spent some time this last weekend operating in the
Commonwealth Contest. That is a 24 hour contest, but
it has a 12 hour category, which is steadily becoming
the more popular. You can choose your 12 hours from
within the 24, subject to at least 1 hour off times.
This approach seems to me to achieve the best of all
worlds, and I think that ARRL (and CQ) should very
seriously consider it. And I find the suggestion 'if
you don't like the current rules, play somewhere else'
to be sadly lacking in logic and compassion.
