[CQ-Contest] Another SS rules question

Let's try using a bit of COMMON SENSE for a change.
What is the reason for a rule? To be sure that someone does not an unfair
advantage over someone else. For example if you are using 500 watts and in
category A in SS, that is unfair because the rule says under 150 watts thus
the 500 watts usually will make the signal stronger and more readable (in
most cases) than anyone else who is following the rules. Now what unfair
advantage is the guy with 100 watts getting when competing against the 1000
watt stations in class B? answer: NONE! Except the satisfaction that he
competed against the best and if he happen to have the highest score in the
section/division running less than the max. GOOD FOR HIM!! Another example
would be what happens if a guy has an amp running a KW and 12 hours into SS
it blows up. Does he have to change his precedence? I don't think
so......... plus it would really screw up the log checking if you change in
midstream.
Now for the long running list on SS check numbers. IT'S JUST A NUMBER!
The only things that are important is that the number remain constant for
the duration of the contest for all receipents receiving the number. To
assist you in picking a number, they have asked that you use the first year
you are licensed, but if you can't remember or pick another number, are
you going to get DQ'd? Nooooooooo
Are you going to feel guilty that you didn't use the exact number. Maybe,
but that should be between you and your shrink.
Now back to the rants and raves,

Hi John,
The SS rules, posted on the ARRL website say that category B is "greater
than 150 watts". So in this case your power has to be greater than the
minimum to be eligible to be class B
