Hello Dick,

If you are just checking to see if another band is open, it can be a
pain.  That's why I use a second antenna (all band vertical) and
sometimes a second radio, to check quckly for openings. Once I decide to
change bands, it seems that by the time I make all the changes I need to
make and perhaps turn the antenna for propogation from a different area,
the steppir has made it's adjustment.  In many cases you are moving to
adjacent bands and the adjustment time is quite short.

If you have only the one antenna, you may have difficulty moving
stations for a mult.  They'll probably be there before you.

To me, in most cases, it is just some time you fill with actions you
normally would make at other times during the contest, and is certainly
made up for throughout the contest in the lack of need to swing the beam
180 degrees to pick up a contact.

Interested to find out if any contesters using the SteppIR 3 element

that the QSY time between bands is too objectionable. I found out from 
SteppIR that from 20 to 15 the time is about 9 seconds and from 20 to 10
it 
is 12 seconds. Since this will be my only antenna for those bands it
appears 
that QSY in contests is not very swift. Thoughts?
