Bill,

I don't believe this advice is to be taken to mean that you shouldn't go all
out in every way if you don't want to.

My take on it is it applies regardless which level of contesting to which
you aspire. I believe this advice should be defined as follows:

Sweat the details you can change,
Ignore the details you can't,
Have the wisdom to know the difference.
