[CQ-Contest] Another dumb question

I want to network two laptops using CTWIN.  One laptop  has a serial port the 
other has only USB.  Will a USB to Serial adaptor do  the trick for the 
'puter without the Serial Port?  
 
Yes, I know about Ethernet and don't want to do it that  way.
