Actually, there is an alternative that works very well and that is a TA33.
You can run legal limit into it, and it works great.
You can often find them used for under $200. Parts are still available - I
think you could buy a new one too.
I think you can take a TA33 apart enough to put it in a snow ski bag which
is perfect for airline travel.
