I ordered all my big 126 watt '''BRITE WHITE'''' bulbs on line from a place
called bulbs.com. Yes I paid more but I knew exactly what I was getting.
Brite White seems to be the perfect color because it is white light.
All Fluorescent Lights are not created equal. The color temp is extremely
important. When I first started replacing all the bulbs I learned all the
lessons the hard way. The most important thing for me is no noise. I found
some 'el-cheapos' at Wal or K Mart and they not only had a weird color,
almost pinkish, but were huge noise generators. I guess 2 life rules apply:
1. You get what you pay for. 2. Buyer Beware.

The color situation can be remedied by purchasing only those bulbs that
list (brag about) their Color Temperature. I sell bulbs that are 6500K which
is as close to natural as you can find in your local Lowe's or that other
big-box store. You will have to look for them as they are the rarity, not
the norm. I use them over my work bench where I do stained glass and need
true color rendition to match colors in glass pieces.
I have not been bothered by the slightly longer warm up time.

I had them in every fixture here. I found them to be very quiet on the
HF
bands.
What I didn't care for was the fact that they are slow to warm-up
(brighten)
and
give off an eerie greenish cruddy light. I went back to all
incandescents,
other
than outdoor fixtures. I doubt that incandescents will be "banned"
anytime
soon.
