I find the letter O acceptable for zero if the signal is loud. If the signal is weak, I am worried whether I missed two dits in a 2 or an 8. Since we can't know for sure if we are loud or not, I suggest that use of the letter O for zero be avoided, since it results in requests for repeats that the letter T or the five dash zero would likely not. 73, John, K4BAI.
