I think its a matter of time that some Propagation bored smart JA will give us some software for virtual contest that
eventually will be incorporated into a real contest to compensate propagation and amateurs with limitations
in terms of station.
Dont be surprised soon if a new class will appear on cqww that accomodates everyone on the thrill of Dxing and contesting, there will still be Dxpeditions that will provide enought fun for everyone and the same way they do sattelite
and other non standard operations they may jump on the internet and give an oportunity to get qsl's to "digital guys"

Eventually some of the larger stations will become available for contests to be used by these setups that are virtual in nature when they are not in use, in fact this is being done today with remote control softwares.

I remember when N5Tj was operating from my house on cqww , I had setup a remote station 30 miles away and we where both running Ja's on 20 and I was sitting behind him just with my laptop and my remote software and logging program.

This may even be an oportunity for owners of DX QTH's that they could rent the station all year long for Dxing and
contests , as im sure it will help to pay the "dx luxury station bills"

Given my less than modest antenna situation I can only dream of rates
anywhere near this from my home station, but I too have been playing
with Morse Runner a lot recently. I have to agree with Barry, it's a
terrific pile-up trainer. I've only run the activity level as high as
4 and the speed at 35 wpm so far, but I'm copying just about 100% at
that level, so perhaps it's time to crank it up a notch or two.

A new ham I'm Elmering into the CW contesting world is also using it
to very good advantage. It makes for excellent, real-world code practice.

Kudos to Alex, VE3NEA, for creating and distributing such a valuable
  piece of software.

  Bill/NG3K
