I don't get it.

For all the kvetching & moaning that has been ongoing on this reflector
about whether or not we really have a significant problem with cheating...

Dave come along and provides a statistical analysis demonstrating that
there's at the very least something funny going on, if not downright
cheating. And Hans reams him out over it?

IMHO, this data is out there, in public. All Dave has done is gathered it,
analyzed it, and posted his results for you to draw your own conclusions
(with a rather witty commentary, I might add). How that makes him "judge
jury & executioner" escapes me.

Dave: Keep up the good work, and keep posting it as you see fit. It is
interesting, provides some valuable insights, and is very likely making a
few characters think twice.

Sheesh.

Well there you have it then.

Your good work can and does catch cheaters, and when presented to the
contest sponsors, does get logs withdrawn. Good job. The contesting
community is in your debt.

But anything beyond that is essentially a public hanging not conducted by
the contest sponsor, but independently carried our by a self appointed
prosecutor, judge, and executioner.
