Now, Geoff may feel differently, but if I were him, I don't think I
would want my logs opened to my biggest competitor so they can gain all
of the information and experience it has taken me years to garner in a
few weeks of studying my logs. I think this is even more serious of a
problem for single operator stations.

I can't speak for Geoff, but as one of the PJ2T ops in CQWW CW last year I
can say this:

We did spend some time looking over the PJ4A and PJ2T logs from the previous
year trying to glean any useful info. And we basically learned (not that we
didn't already know) that the PJ4A guys were working them faster, and worked
a lot of EU mults earlier on the high bands that PJ2T did.

It in part came down to geography. The cool station photos one sees looking
down at the PJ2T station are, unfortunately, shot while standing on the
ground that lies between PJ2T and Europe. So the low angle, beginning of the
opening stuff just doesn't get there very well.

In the case of 6Y1V, no amount of looking at logs will get you three points
per North American qso.
