Bzzzzzt.

Art, you are in error.  This is not obvious.  I can see how you might think 
that, but I can tell you from experience that more than half of the 
ditty-dumb-dumb-dittys that come across my CQ frequencies are people who are 
really hoping there will be no response so they can fire up and make it 
their home.  More than half.  Trust me, this is a serious problem and is the 
cause of most frequency fights.  They think they qulaify for some kind of 
moral high ground because they think they are justified in saying "well, I 
checked to see if the frequency was in use and you didn't respond, so I 
though it was clear."

I'm sorry, you didn't check to see if the frequency was in use, you just 
sent a question mark.  Not the same thing.

You people who do that should knock it off.  Do the right thing and listen 
more than one second.  Sheesh.
