The way I look at it it is reciprocal - I give out the contacts, therefore contesters get the points for the contact – that is what they want out of the contest. 


What I’m looking for is the occasional contact that will be a DXCC band or mode fill for me – that is what I’m looking for in the contest.


I always make sure to make at least a couple hundred QSO's so I won't be marked as a unique call in anyone's log.


As far as QSLing is concerned – I really don’t see how my not turning in a log would be any cause for someone not to respond to a QSL.


I actually don’t send out that many QSL’s as a result of working stations in contests – but most cards I send out do get answered.  Here again I reciprocate – If a station did me the favor of responding to my QSL in past contests I make a point of working them again in future contests.  If they don’t bother to answer my QSL, I may just keep spinning the dial looking for another band fill.


Now if a contest sponsor ever insisted that only QSO’s with stations submitting logs would count in their contest – then I would understand not QSLing unless I entered my log – that as you said would be reciprocal.
