A better question would be:
Who feels that taking an off-time in a contest is MORE fun than spending
6 hours in front of the radio when there is no one to talk to?
[I am raising my hand.]

1999.

The final year the contest was 30 hours. I think this was 1992. I
also put in the full 36 hours the following year, so I had an
excellent basis for a side-by-side comparison. I still have a very
clear memory of how I spent the last six hours of the contest
listening to the voice keyer calling CQ while I was reading old issues
of CQ.

Absolutely!
Funny you should ask this question. I have already been on the phone
this morning to "reserve" a seat, just in case this happens.
I realize that with these poor conditions I would probably only have
about 20 productive hours. Nonetheless, I would still put in the full
30 hours and give it my best shot.
