Dayton 2008 is now history!

It all started last Tuesday night with about 10 guys in the "Lobby Suite" at
the Crowne Plaza (official contester hotel) in downtown Dayton.

Wednesday was arrival day for many of the Contest University students and
professors. The Super Suite was open and the first of 4 (close to midnight)
Pizza parties occurred (contesters tackled more than 100 pizzas in 4 days!).

ConTest University ("CTU") started Thursday morning at 7 AM. More than 200
students attended. 13 different contest related presentations were given by
the eight instructors. Thanks to the CTU sponsors for helping with the 2nd
running of CTU The Super Suite opened later that night, and the three host
clubs (Frankford Radio Club, Mad River Radio Club and North Coast
Contesters) welcomed contesters and DXers for the 21st annual event. K8CC
and I sponsored the Pizza Party late in the evening.

On Friday most contesters headed to HARA arena for the big hamfest as well
as attending the packed Antenna forum. Friday night was jammed with
contester conversations at the Super Suite and the Potomac Valley Radio Club
hosted the Pizza party.

Saturday was more hamfest and the standing room only Contest forum moderated
by K1DG. Saturday night was the largest Contest Dinner ever (16th annual).
Master of ceremonies was John, K1AR. Over 400 attended to welcome new CQ
Contest Hall of Fame members, Randy, K5ZD and Paolo, I2UIY. Dinner speaker
Riley, K4ZDH was entertaining and over 75 door prizes were given away. The
main prize (an Icom IC-7000) was won by K5OT. The Super Suite was busy busy
and the late night Pizza Party was hosted by the Yankee Clipper Contest
Club.

Thanks to everyone that helped make it all happen!

The slides for the 2008 Antenna and Contest forum will be posted soon (4
past years are there too). You can access them via the front page of

Enjoy the WPX CW contest this weekend and have a safe summer building
antennas.

Make your plans soon to attend Dayton 2009!
