[CQ-Contest] 1 KILO vs. 1000

 From the rules:
4.2. DX stations send signal report and power (number indicating 
approximate transmitter output power).

Technically, K and KW should not be good either, as it says NUMBER.  
However, I've always just entered K and have never been dinged for it. 

Why would you type 1KILO, which is more keystrokes than the actual 
number 1000?  Not much of an abbreviation, is it?
