You can operate for a total of 36 hours.

Until you start operating, by definition you haven't taken any time off.

"Time off" occurs >>>between<<< periods of operating, not before or after 
you quit operating for the weekend.

If you start operating at 1130Z and operate continuously for 36 hours until 
2330Z and then close your station you have not taken any "time off".
