[CQ-Contest] 40m "new" approach to staying in the band?

I believe it was a convention that arose because of the configuration of 
the early phasing exciters.  IIRC, it was easy for them to generate the 
SSB signal at a frequency between 40 and 20, and then mix either up or 
down, but a side-effect was that everything below 20 was LSB.
