[CQ-Contest] [TenMeters] New Rig - Somewhat Offtopic

Billie,
I have been thinking of getting a replacement for my FT-920. I have been
very happy with my FT-920, but realize that compared to a new radio it just
can not do as much. I can not afford any of the really big (read that as
expensive) radios. So, I have been considering a SDR (Flex 3000 or 5000 if I
an get the $ together). I enjoy DX, Contesting and 10-10 activities and even
though I will never have a station that is a threat to the Big guns I would
like to make as much noise as I can. What do others think of the SDR typle
of radios?

Thanks all for the recommendations.

I love my IC-706 and FT-100. They are both really good little radios and
if replaced will be put into mobile applications. Don't go getting your
hopes up. They won't be for sale any time soon. *<]:oD

We're not in any particular hurry to buy anything in particular. We're
just thinking about it. Part of the final decision will depend on
availability and value for the dollar at the time.

Not good for much but fun to watch when you push them down the stairs.
