Wah wah wah... here go the 80-year-olds again... haven't you heard?
"Resistance is futile!"
Cars replaced horses... wah wah wah
Transistors replaced tubes... wah wah wah
Color TV replaced B&W... wah wah wah
SSB replaced AM... wah wah wah
GPS replaced maps... wah wah wah
Cell phones replaced landlines... wah wah wah
I continue to be amazed the resistance some hams are to "trying something
different"! Yeah, let's shoot down an idea before it is even given a fair
shot.
What you really need to be doing is looking at what technology your
grandkids are using. It's a different century. Talking to Australia using a
box on the table and a wire out in the tree is OLD CENTURY! They can send
live video to each other on their cell phones... that's wireless too.
The idea to have an internet server to log all contacts is a good idea. It
should be investigated. It should be tried. Three cheers for the ARRL going
ahead and giving this a try. It would be a different story if they were
going to try and implement this for the ARRL DX contest, but a NEW contest
aimed at the technological elite youngsters is a perfect venue. There is
absolutely nothing to loose.
Get behind it. Support a new idea. Give it a try. You're not 80 years old
yet.
