My favorite SSB contesting headset is the Beyer Dynamic DT-234 PRO fitted with a heil HC-4 element. This might not be the cheapest solution as this is a video editing headset geared to the professional market. It is priced around EUR 80.00, but there is a gaming version available with a lower price tag. The only difference from what I recall is that the gaming version is black.

The DT-234 PRO headset is VERY comfortable when used for many hours. In a multi operation setup it might not offer the same noise canceling as more tight fitted headsets will do, but for a single operator its smooth like a dream.

I have also used the Koss version of the CM-500 headset and it is also comfortable and can be fitted with the HC-4 element (creativity needed), but it is of less mechanical quality than the DT-234 headset and bigger/heavier.
