The rules specify what elements entrants are obliged
to exchange on-air.  They do not indicate what happens
to these exchange elements during log checking.

RST and Zone are not checked in CQWW, but callsigns
most certainly are.

K0HB is right.  However, there is nothing in the CQWW
rules to say that RST and Zone have to be copied
accurately, or that points will be lost for errors in
copying them.  Rule 6 says "Bad QSO: The bad QSO is
removed and a penalty of three more equivalent QSOs
is applied to the points only".  The rules do not
offer a definition of a bad QSO.  In practice, for
CQWW, bad QSOs and their associated penalties relate
only to those with callsign errors - with time, band
and mode discrepancies being separate issues.
