Fall is almost here, which means the opening of CQ WW season with RTTY on
24-25 September. This is arguably the most popular RTTY contest of the year
with over 15,000 stations participating last year and 2681 logs submitted.
There are no significant rules changes but be sure to read through them so
you are not surprised (http://www.cqwwrtty.com/rules.htm). Much of the
updates this year are to keep pace with the CQ WW CW/SSB rules wording.
There is a short list of differences between RTTY and CW/SSB on the website
homepage (http://www.cqwwrtty.com/index.html). And be aware that the log
deadline is 15 October, rather than a full month after the event. If you
can translate the Rules into another language, please do so ASAP and email
the file to mailto:w0yk at cqwwrtty.com for updating the Rules webpage.

Thanks to AA5AU and K5ZD, the online Scores Database is updated with the
2010 results (http://www.cqwwrtty.com/scoresry.htm). You can search by
callsign, category and/or virtually any geographic area to see what records
are and plan your strategy. The 2010 results were published in the May 2011
issue of CQ magazine with the expanded results on the website
(http://www.cqwwrtty.com/results.htm).

As always, we love to receive photos and stories from around the world for
the May 2012 CQ magazine article and website. In particular, the more
modest stations are of great interest, so don't be shy about sharing your
operation (mailto:w0yk at cqwwrtty.com).

Consider supporting the contest by sponsoring a plaque. The Plaques webpage
(http://www.cqwwrtty.com/plaques.htm) shows who sponsored which category
plaques last year and they have first rights for this year's sponsorship.
However, a plaque can be sponsored for any category you choose, and can be
done as a memorial to a silent key if you choose. Contact K4GMH for
details, mailto:k4gmh at arrl.net. Also, there is the I2UIY Memorial Plaque
for single-op contest expeditions, so let us know who you think is worthy of
consideration this year.

Join the fun in a couple weeks and be sure to send in your log
(mailto:rtty at cqww.com)! Let's see if we can exceed 3000 logs received this
year so K5ZD has to adjust the vertical axis on the historical participation
graph!
