[CQ-Contest] shack table height - optimal for CW contesting?

Absolutely agree!

At ED5T we custom built a tabletop on rollers so we can pull it out into
the middle of the shack and stand comfortably behind everything while
setting up. Once finished, it gets pushed back against the wall. Check
photos at http://ea5kv.ure.es/torrentcc_en.htm, click on pics. For us
folks that have to set up for each contest, this is a real boon.

Amen, brother!!! ALWAYS make sure there is room behind your desk for
=you= so you can get to all of the cables, wall warts and the back-side
of all radios and equipment. Kneeling on the edge of your desk so you
can stretch over everything is NOT the way to go!Depending on your
girth, about two feet between the rear of your desk and the wall should
be minimum.

I remember seeing one world-class station that had the operating desks
pushed right up against the wall and I couldn't figure out how he ran
all the cables. Then I noticed that the entire wall had been cut out
from table height to the floor so everything could be accessed from the
adjacent room! I am still envious! :)
