in a few QSOs before I forgot, so I did not tune away. While I was typing,
one of my local buddies made a QSO and inherited the freq. I was so
excited to hear him (and to know that I could actually get him with one
fast call), that I forgot I was not allowed to -- I had not made a new QSO
on a different freq. (I realized my error as I was working him. As I
recall, I left the freq after the QSO.)

the logged data (nr or name).

Hi Art.

Well - in the grand scheme of things - obviously this small infraction
isn't a big deal and one can certainly understand how you reacted to the
situation.

Confession is good for the soul.

I would suggest one of two things:

1. Just log it and move on.

2. Change the name or received QSO number to something obviously wrong.
Actually - changing the received QSO number to 999 is a pretty obvious way
to make sure the QSO gets busted in your log - without impacting anything
else.
